Is Your Comfort Zone Secret to Powerful Habits?

We all have heard that the only way to make it is to get out of your comfort zone. The thing is, what happens next? Okay so you got out of your comfort zone and tried to establish those social connections, applied for that promotion, pitched your idea to the local council, and so forth.

The question is, once you've come out of your comfort, how do you go about keeping the momentum because mind you- we humans, are always seeking protection, security, peace of mind, and ... well, comfort!

For this very mentioned reason, you want to find and go towards your known land- the place where sustained productivity is achieved. In fact, comfort is a basic human motivator which we look out for- think about your comfort food, blanket, or usual physical activity which you perform without any strain.

Physical Activity

Being comfortable in what you do will allow you to continue and get on with a particular activity. Think about striving to reach fitness goals in the gym- what will keep you going is either results or the routine. Now, let's say you are not comfortable with the particular routine (it's too hard, tiring, requires lots of motivation, etc). Chances are only the results you see after your workout will keep you going. But for how long? You will have that 1 cheat day which will turn into a cheat week and by the time you realise- you have stopped going to the gym!

The importance of finding your own comfort is beneficial in the long run- for sustained outcomes. Self- discovery and listening to your body- e.g., if you are more comfortable with dancing and partying, then trying Gymnastics Dance, Zumba, Dance will be much better for your goals. If you get tired quickly, then slower exercises like yoga, Tai Chi will be your go-to physical activity.

The key is - find your comfort and maximise your benefits in a sustained way.

Diet

People crave comfort and this is true in our food intake as well. Okay, you ditched your favourite meal for good nutrition and balanced meal. This does not have to lack taste- you can always find appropriate healthy herbs and condiments to make up for ingredients that you ditched. The simple reason is if the food you are taking does not taste right to your mouth and senses, chances are your brain will crave for those delicious meals around you.

Therefore, in order to have a proper food intake control, the idea is to find new flavours and favourites which you will get used to instead of thinking solely about ' I am on Diet'.

Rest

Taking rest is important for your body and mind to recuperate, build up, and get re-energised. We love to call it 'reboot and boost'. Again, while you are resting, you are in a state of calmness, soothe, and comfort.

The idea here is to take this moment to do your emotional check-in so that you recognise which routine, diet, or activity is most suited for you. Once you get hold of this, then you are set to achieve long term sustained results whenever you go out of your comfort zone to achieve a certain goal.
