Most of the time you may be feeling just too busy, lazy or tired to actually commit to that day out with colleagues, friends, family, or neighbours.
The reason would be you want your 'me-time'. However, just feeling like you don't want to go out and meet up may be sign of slacking off instead of reconnecting with yourself.
This is the time where you need to show up, meet people, have conversations and just enjoy company.
1. Socialising is your path to self discovery!
Only when you will be in that particular circle will you know if you are happy to stay or in a hurry to leave.
2. Social Environment determines healthy habits
Some studies have linked social connection with physical health benefits, and better power habits.
Researchers at Maastricht University Medical Centre in the Netherlands saw that socially active individuals have a decreased risk of type 2 diabetes.
On the contrary, people who did not participate in social activities, such as going out with friends or joining a club, had a higher risk of developing prediabetes.
It might be that just being around people with similar motivation and likes and fitness goals encourage us to automatically keep up with the habits.
3. A tool for happiness and longevity
Enjoying close social ties — with friends, partners, or family members — can make us happy. Just going for a cup of coffee takes your mind off your little cocoon and allows your brain to open up to new experience instead of pondering on and on.
Socialising also improves our overall life satisfaction in the long run.
Studies showed that people who enjoy happy relationships and friends experience less depression and anxiety, thereby contributing to longevity.
While there are times where we just need our own pampering moments or what we call 'self- care'... most of the time, it will be good to notice and question what exactly are you planning to do:- if it is chilling, reading a good book, going for a facial/ spa treat, solo hike, or any other actual activity, then yes, you do get to indulge in your 'me-time'.
However, if you are just cancelling on a day out because you feel heavy in your head, then you know you need to show up!
