Walking can be roughly defined as a way to alternately put your legs one step forward at a time in order to move from one point to reach another point. Walking is something that we do effortlessly, without paying much attention to the actual exercises involved in doing so! And when we speak of exercises- whether mental or physiological- we speak of Benefits!!

Well, for once, while walking may seem easy, it is actually complicated for your brain to pull off requiring it to juggle between different processes just so you can take a stroll!

"Cognitive Mapping" - simply explained as our 'internal GPS' -  is the process that keeps you oriented with a sense of direction, memory, and vision.

The mental gymnastics involved in just taking a walk means walking for at least 30 minutes a day has incredible impacts on how we stay well. Through exercising so many brain systems, walking works like a help to continuous learning, an antidepressant, and a great creativity boost.

Ever felt drowsy, bored, and excessively tired from doing nothing? What did you do? Well, trying a walk and taking a stroll might have been an effective energy. 

Walking increases oxygen flow through the body. This makes your body respond by secreting cortisol which releases energy. High flow of oxygen can also increase levels of epinephrine, and norepinephrine. Those are the hormones that help elevate energy levels.

Walking uses stored energy from your body. This leaves a subtle physical tiredness which requires your body to rest. This is how a 30-minutes walk a day helps to regulate your sleep cycle.

Digestion

Walking involves the use of your core abdominal muscles. Regularly taking a stroll is a good "workout" (exercise) for those muscles, thereby improving your bowel movements. Good bowel movements are an integral and important part of your digestion.

Walking is one most effortlessly way to achieve both mental and physical wellness. While you take a stroll enjoying change in landscaping, putting one foot forward at a time, pumping that blood flow, and memorising, envisioning your way forward, you are actually doing a great exercise both for your mental and physiological health!!
